"For years I had been a "junkie"--addicted to prescription and over the counter drugs. used oral and topical anti-inflammatory corticosteroids for 9 years to suppress my eczema/psoriasis. The steroids' side effect nearly killed me and did nothing to cure my eczema. Why elimination or suppression of the symptom is NOT the same as elimination of the disease . The side effects caused me to swell-up like a balloon and triggered terrible mood swings from deep depression to nasty outburst our rages. Functioning of vital organs such as my liver, kidneys, lungs and spleen were nearly shut down and I thought I would die." Shirley

Riddle me this? How do two doctors send a diabetic home with steriods for an undisclosed condtion? And never did they mention and changes I might need to be aware of, being a diabetic. Not to menation, the fact that they couldn’t figure out or even consider psorisis now that I have learned more about it, it’s pretty common. I’m not a doctor and I wasn’t aware of this disease. What I have become aware of, is if you catch it early you can take steps to minimize the breakout hence pain. I’m considering taking further action.

My doctors Insisted on them for the past 18 years, the scar tissue was so thick the doctors had difficulty driving in the epidural needles, it would hurt so much his nurse would hold her hand over my mouth so the patients in the waiting room couldn’t hear me ,after so many injections he refused to see me unless he could knock me out first, And The Ironic part was the shots barely relieved the pain for maybe a week then right back for more shots in the torcher chambers, they have had me on Oxicotton & The Whole Gambit of Pain relievers, to the point I couldn’t even walk ,I have fallen Many times spraining my Wrists And Hurting other parts of my body ,And Forget about going up & down stairs I have fallen several times on the stairs hurting my back and Neck. The pain gets so severe I cant Relieve the pain weather I sit, stand, lay, Even the Pain Machine Just reduces it rather than minimizes my pain ,And to make Matters worse. The Company I use to work for says that they are only responsible for the Original Injuries, Not the Many Injuries I have received Because of the Original Injuries , And Their Incompetent workmen’s comp doctors.

I have a suspicion, after reading many of your notes on injectable steroids, that I seem to have developed a type of “tendonitis” in my upper arms due to multiple elbow steroid injections. I have had 4 in my left elbow (worst arm) and 2 in my right, about 5yrs ago. I have been having this tendon problem for about one year now, and not one doctor can figure out what’s wrong. One actually said “it seems like tendonitis”, but no cause or cure was suggested. The steroid injections is the only common denominator here. The right arm is affected as well, but not nearly to the degree of the left (and I’m right handed, so maybe the strong arm is less affected, plus I only had 2 injections there). Is there hope for acute tendonitis in my bicep/tricep area?

What is cortisone?
It is a hormone produced by a small gland on top of the kidney called the adrenal gland. It is essential to the proper functioning of your body, particularly when under stress. Its absence is known as Addison's Disease, which without treatment is fatal. Cortisone is a normal body product therefore; there are no allergic reactions. In cases of people with severe allergies, it is one of our most effective treatment tools. Cortisone by itself is rarely used today as it is relatively short acting and of low potency. Semi-artificial cortisone derivatives, such as DepoMedrol, Celestone, Kenalog, and a number of others, are used with increased benefits and fewer side effects.
